The judges would love to train here. It’s a great place to start a career and you would learn everything you would need to know for life.Glenn Roberts, Managing Director, Hoshizaki Gram
Lucknam Park announced the winner of Best Chef Development Strategy at the Springboard Awards for Excellence 2016.
After showing the judges the great opportunities on offer, the team were shortlisted for two awards which included Best Chef Development Strategy and Best Work Experience Provider.
Executive Chef Hywel Jones has taken in apprentices from a specialised programme run at Bournemouth and Poole College for 12 years, and chefs remain long after the completion of their apprenticeship.
The Lucknam team work with a number of colleges and this strong link has recently resulted in three new commis chefs.
Of the 26 chefs at Lucknam Park, three have moved on to higher positions externally this year. This has allowed current brigade members to be promoted, and provides motivation as hard work is rewarded.
Hywel also encourages Lucknam’s chefs to enter competitions as part of their development, and two will be competing in South West Chef of the Year.
This year Hywel has been made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Ben Taylor won Welsh Chef of the Year and Elly Wentworth achieved the Gold Standard.
