Lewis Collins, Events Coordinator
I started working in hospitality when I was just 18, behind a bar pulling pints and making cocktails! I then moved to a country house hotel where I started as a waiter, progressing to Reception Manager and Duty Manager within two years. During this time, I experienced every aspect of a country house hotel and fell in love with the whole concept, dabbling in events (in particular weddings), both planning and operationally. There’s something about being part of a happy couples big day that fills you with joy! I then moved to Hilton where I learnt tips and tricks of the hospitality industry from some incredible people. This was my first experience working within a big hotel chain for a large property so was great to work with much bigger weddings, events and conferences. Now I am creating unique and bespoke experiences here at Lucknam Park, where I am thrilled to be working within a team with a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion! It’s great to work with a property where the sky really is the limit.
Why Lucknam Park
I promised myself that I would always end up planning events for a 5 star country house hotel; who would have thought that just a few years into my career I’m working with an incredible team at one of the best country house hotels in the UK!
What inspired you to work in hospitality
Which other industry would you be able to be a part of so many different aspects of someone’s life? Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, whatever the occasion, I get a huge kick out of making people happy.
When not at Lucknam Park Hotel, how do you spend your time
When I’m not at Lucknam Park, I put all of my spare time into teaching dance, producing shows and performing. Performing Arts is what I originally trained in so it’s perfect for me to be able to keep my passion alive whilst keeping myself on my toes! If I’m not working towards a production, I’m with my amazingly talented friends either wining and dining, singing along to musical soundtracks or planning our next theatrical venture.
It has to be Gin! Gin & Tonic, Gin & Lime, Gin & Ginger Beer, Gin & Gin!
